ITR - ASHTECH - Live At Waveform 2007 - Now On Line + Interview
ASHTECH
‘Walkin’ Target’
Interview:
Michael Dixon
for
Location:
Press Tent WaveForm Project,
Date: 14September 2007 Time:18.39 Hrs
Tiredness overcomes mental attitude and sensibility, cold numbs the senses and the thickness or thinness of the fabric of a Halfords’ ‘Festival’ £14 (UK Pounds) tent with a crammed-in blow-up air bed to soften the ground and easy aching bones doesn’t help after a life-time of mattress, bed and blanket.
It was after two sleepless nights of cold autumnal weather, freezing in a single sleeping bag and fully dressed after crawling through the darkness surrounding the Press Area at Waveform that I would find myself tripping over tent pegs, slightly intoxicated, maybe more that I realized at the time and cursing and muttering to myself as I way untied tent strings before falling into a nose-chilling sleep that I was to meet Ashtech – just listen to how I forget my own radio station...!
Rushing towards the main stage to get the Waiver to allow their set to be played on InTouchRadio.net I clearly remember sliding down the ramp almost taking Ashtech’s Steinberg headless bass guitar with me and seeing the surprise of this ‘sliding target’ slip by headlong into the side of the main stage awning.
This informal meeting made for an interesting interview as I felt we knew each other well enough and Ashtech was surprisingly understanding of the tired and somewhat older interviewer before him. If you look closely you will see the look in his eyes as we talk intimately about him and the band that is Ashtech.
I hope you enjoy the interview and the following set off Waveform Project’s main stage down in the Devon countryside alongside the Exe estuary at
