This is an interview with Dave Eastoe of Glastonbury, England about the late James Cameron who was a mutual friend of both of ours some years ago.

James, unbeknown to me had met Dave Eastoe in the Cafe Galatea in Glastonbury High Street in 2001 "with a beaten up old Spanish guitar" and had played a new song he'd written called 'Tibet Will Be Free' - Dave heard this and suggested coming into his studio, conveniently situated at the back of the Cafe Galatea.

James had written a very powerful set of words but his timing was not good and he needed the experience of Dave's musical background to help put together the final song. It was a laborious effort on the behalf of Dave Eastoe, this was interjected by James' insistence of bringing backing singers in from the Cafe, these are the Glastonbury Street Singers - some were good, some were not so good and with many hours of intense labour Dave edited out the good and amended the timing.

The resulting song was sent, Dave believes, directly to the Dalai Lama and to many other parts of the world, including the Bay area of California where it was taken up by the Buddhist sector and was, apparently, their top song.

Within two years James was to suddenly die in his sleep - I'm not sure of his age but he could only have been in his late 40's or very early 50's. It was a shock to all that new him. My memory was of James the hairdresser. James, I believe, had been a London hairdresser and I believe he had, at the time, a hairdressing salon in Cheddar, between Glastonbury and Bath.

Recently many of you will have heard me talking about and spreading the word about Tibet

After listening to the song I realized that the melody was sticking in my memory so much so that I started to play it over a couple of days - then I phoned Dave and suggested, with everything that was going on about Tibet, which we are both passionate about, that he come over and I interview him informally about James, the song and other things.

What you have is the interview in four parts with a simple slide show which I put together after being tutored by Virgilio Fino of Use Your Ears.com (www.useyourears.com) who is the sponsor for hosting InTouchRadio.net. I make no apologies for the synchronicity of the picture but by the end of the second part I'd started to get the hang of it and I hope it expresses the powerful possibilities that James was hoping for. Certainly during the interview you will hear us talking about James being in the room and he has been here since, every time I talk about this song and every time I post more information, so perhaps James is still with us but coming in from a different perspective.

Please listen and I hope you enjoy. If any of you have pictures of James please let me know and I will add them.
