ITR - BioFuels - Information for InTouchRadio.net (Glastonbury, London UK)
Dear Michael,
Can you spare 20 seconds in the fight against biofuels?
You were one of thousands of people who helped the RSPB in February by registering opposition to current UK biofuels policy. Your letters to the Transport Secretary, Ruth Kelly, helped trigger the Government to announce a review into its own biofuels policy - the results of which should be announced this summer.
If you remember, the reason for our concern is that biofuels are meant to be a good idea in the fight against climate change but in reality some biofuels risk massive damage to precious wildlife habitats, increase food prices for some of the world's poorest people and even increased greenhouse gas emissions.
We are currently taking the fight to Europe. Important decisions are being made in Brussels in the next few days about how much biofuel companies will be required to supply in the next ten years. The RSPB, along with a wide range of other environment and development groups believe that it will not be possible to meet the current proposed 10% target for biofuels without having a devastating effect on the world's ecosystems.
We need to influence public opinion and we have an opportunity today!
European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso, has issued a poll about the 10% biofuels target. Please register your opposition to the target by following the link below and voting 'No'. It should take just 20 seconds!

If you have another ten seconds to spare, could you forward this e-mail to family and friends?
Unfortunately we have not managed to find out how long the poll will remain on the Commission's website, so the sooner you register your vote the better!
Thank you so much for your support. As we saw with the last action on biofuels, your support really can make a difference.
Yours sincerely,
Sally Webber
Head of Government Affairs
