ITR - Sunrise Celebration 2009 Come Join the Fun and Bare Your Sole

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net (UK - GLOBAL)
SUNRISE CELEBRATION 2009

Mini Update

Hi everyone - just rushed back to upload a video 'Sunrise Celebrators Bare Sole' for InfinitePossibility.org & GunghoMedia who are with me at Sunrise this year - fun collaborators in some fields under the sun.

If you're able to come on down - there's still some tickets for Weekend or Sunday going and you'll have a wonderful time with some great people and you can come have a chat too - we're camped right by the Press Interview Tent near Production.

Sunrise this year is more contained and in several fields just on the outskirts of Bruton - they're guiding us in from the A361 near Frome the main link road that goes through South Somerset and approach Bruton this way - they're asking people not to go through Bruton - not only is it a small town easily congested but also one of the worst one-way systems ever divised - do try to make it down - we're describing it as a home in a field where the kids are running in the truest hippy way just like when I used to go to those festivals in the 60's.

There's great Organic food and the site water comes from this Organic farm's own pure Water Well - so none of your freaked out water here - just water straight from the well.

I met the Environment people yesterday and they've said its the tightest run festival they've been too and were enjoying their work - in fact, they didn't want to leave they were enjoying it so much.

I can confirm that too - I was up at 5am and the crews were already going round cleaning up - I found just one item of litter on my walk around the site later - but that's what Sunrise is all about - sustainability and taking responsibility - I wonder if the other festivals will be nearly as clean this year?

All the staff are wonderful and friendly from the Green Security (watching out for you environmentally) to the Gate Security and the teams of volunteer workers - all smiles and all from very different locations within the UK and from other countries.

You'll meet many nationalities here all making the trek to Sunrise which gives it that world family atmosphere that InTouchRadio.net promotes - One World - One Family.

This film that Brian Viziondanz (InfinitePossibility.org) and Paul Maple of Gungho Media worked through the night to produce was rushed without sleep after working all day getting those one-off shots and incredibly it worke out brilliantly - have a look I sneaked in on the end... there's the occasional mic shot off cam sneaks in (oops!) - hope you enjoy it but better still make your weekend the best this year - full of fun - sun and some beautiful people - this is your real Hippy Festival and I reckon the best.

Lots of Love and as I say 'Far Out Man' - keeping it Cool and Chilled and interesting in my little tent...

Michael x - Big Hugs to our InTouchRadio World Family of Friends.

ITR - Are You Ready to Express Your Inner Hippy? Find Out This Week Only in Somerset at Sunrise Festival

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net

This Week At Sunrise Celebration Festival
Near
Frome/Bruton
South Somerset

Are You Ready to

Express Your Inner Hippy?

Is the world going to end in 2012? Are we all ruled by a secret race of reptiles? Are we unwittingly possessed by alien spirits from the Pleiades star cluster? Is there a portal to another dimension hidden in Stonehenge? Do invisible lines of earth energy link Westminster to Warminster? Has the secret of time travel already been discovered?

Can we all learn to levitate? Do crystals hold the key to a Cancer cure?

All these questions and more will be asked at Sunrise Festival in Somerset this weekend. Surprisingly, many will be answered - in great depth and convincing detail. In the “Avalon Rising” talk tent a host of experts from the cutting edge of the alternative world will be sharing their theories, publicising their facts and delivering a series of mind boggling talks and workshops.

In amongst the weird, the wacky and the woo woo, there’ll even be Jonathan Cainer, astrologer for no less a champion of far out new age beliefs than the Daily Mail... explaining how a rare astrological alignment of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron is about to change your lives. And after that, he’ll be joining in with a firewalk!

Even if hippy trippy talks are not your cup of Chai, you’ll find an abundance of witches and fairies, druids and pagans, green men and white ladies all dancing around this award winning festival on a beautiful organic farm, accompanied by a selection of world class music from up and coming bands plus famous legends from the live performance scene.

Needless to say, the entire event is greener than a plate of spinach,

powered on 100% renewable energy with only organic food and drink on sale. Those not planning to teleport can take the train to Bruton station... or even (five to a car please) drive along the A359.Tickets cost 99 earth pounds with discounts for kids, families and light beings from the planet Zarg (full intergalactic travel documents must be shown)

ITR - Jonathan Cainer Daily Mail Astrologer to do the Walk of Fire at Sunrise Festival - Read All About It

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net (UK - GLOBAL)

Astrologer Jonathan Cainer

Does Fire Walk

at

Sunrise Festival

With only a few days to go things are really hotting up at Gilcombe Farm, Bruton where Sunrise festival is being held. Jonathan Cainer will literally be on fire at this year’s event. On Sunday night he will be performing a fire walk in the main field.

Jonathan Cainer

'Astrologer'

Jonathan Cainer is one of the UKs most well respected and loved astrologers. His Daily Mail astrology readings are followed by hundreds thousands and he is the personal astrologer to the stars. Jonathan has long been a supporter of Sunrise and this year he’s taking his love for the festival one step too far, some might say, and actually walking on fire.

He is performing this crazy stunt to celebrate the rare astrological alignment of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron which hasn’t taken place for 180 years.

“This alignment will be at its most powerful this weekend and from an astrological point of view this is the perfect weekend to go let your hair down at a festival. It symbolises a time when the impossible becomes possible, when fears and problems can be overcome”, says Jonathan.

Sunrise

“At the moment most of us have to walk on fire- faced with the recession we are dealing with trepidation and uncertainty, but this alignment speaks of a freedom from fear. Gestures of faith made at this time are auspicious, so take on a daunting challenge and win. I’m not saying everyone should walk on fire but face up to a fear and see how it goes.”

Wizard Wellbeing, as seen on the BBC programme ‘The One Show’, will be hauling his hot coals down to the festival and performing fire walks throughout the event with one of the most spectacular display happening at the closing ceremony on Sunday evening. Festival goers can themselves walk over the hot coals if they register online before the festival at: www.sunrisecelebration.com

Sunrise Fun

The Fire walking isn’t the only must see at the festival this year, with a full line up of music and entertainment taking place from Thursday evening and going right through to Sunday night. Sunrise is a great family experience to have in the latter part of the half term holidays.

Sunrise - Sunset - Night Life

There will also be a Tibetan temple on site with Buddhist monks performing the beautiful ‘Tsam’ dance which has been banned in Tibet. The ‘Fashion In Transition’ ethical fashion show will be happening at 2pm on Friday, preformed by award winning Somerset comic dance troop ‘Mean Feet’.

Small World

Sunrise Festival

There will be Live Graffiti on Saturday as part of the festival theme this year- 3000BC vs 3000AD, which also includes a massive site wide fancy dress party on Saturday night.

Sunrise Magic

On Saturday afternoon the ‘Sunrise Summer Slam Showdown’, poetry slam competition is happening, hosted by ‘Wandering Word’, infamous on the Bristol underground poetry circuit. “Calling all spoken word artists, rappers, poetic pugilists and vocal virgins to the mic to win two tickets to Sunrise Off Grid, come and be wowed by lyrical gymnastics and spoken word spectaculars under the Sunrise sunshine”, says Yasmin, Sunrise’s creative production genius. To sign up for the poetry slam go to renegade_tourist@hotmail.com

Other things happening include a Sun worshipper’s planetarium in association with the Royal Astronomical Association, a native American medicine wheel and a Tipi circle plus much much more.

The whole Sunday of the event will be dedicated to the ‘Transition Towns’ movement, a phenomenon which has taken the UK by storm and is helping everyone make the steps towards a greener future. This will include talks, family workshops and a recycled clothing parade.

All this and more, including a great music line up, headlined by The Bays, The Dub Pistols, Pama International, Martha Tilston, Lazy Habits and Baka Beyond.

With the weather reports looking sunny and hot for this weekend Sunrise promises to start the festival season off with a bang. There are still some tickets available through the website, adults £99 kids £25 and a limited number will be available on the gate, adults £115, kids £25, Sunday only tickets £35 and kids go free.

ITR - 'The British Press - The Fear To Publish ~ Shurman's Artistic Truisms ~ & The Fall of BritArt'

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net

SHURMAN

'The British Press -

The Fear To Publish

~ Shurman's Artistic Truisms ~

& The Fall of BritArt'

by K.Michael Dixon

To see through the eyes of Shurman - to understand the visual interpolated interpretations of his inner thoughts before the onslaught of where acrylic meets brush meets canvass - to envision the incoming via the neural pathways betwixt thought and action - these are the moments I would like to be able to understand.

Shurman
'Marvin the Martian'

It's now two years since I first got to know, from an unusual introduction at Sunrise Festival 2007 just feet away from the main stage and its thunderous 30 kilowatt rig which vibrated the molecular structures that was he and me, the person called 'Shurman'.

I took an instant liking to Shurman and his interpretation of the art I was to soon witness but more than his art was his attitude towards the Truth and his angular view to injustice.

Shurman
'Fairy Ending'

In a previous blog I heralded this, what I'd call, new visionary artist and suggested buying his art before he becomes too well known and those who have done so, I feel, can rest assured that those works will hedge this deflationary - reflationary - inflationary society that we seem to have encouraged to be our comfort blanket.

I have my favourites in Shurman's catalogue of work as I have my non so favourites, not that they are any less than the favourites just my own preferences.

In this world of corporate meets co-operative whereby the smaller is extinguished by the greater and where ego, by the way we all have to have ego or else we would not leave our beds in the morning, demands that one is greater than the other or that I am better than you; it is fresh to meet one that has come from one hardship but still recognises the hardship of another in the same field of drive.

Shurman
'Stonegate'

Shurman supports other local artists in Glastonbury and it is possible to see local artist's work hanging alongside his in La Lune Cafe, the gallery home where you can see Shurman's art.

Shurman, if he has a 'rub' against those other luminaries in the world of art, it is that the price is above and beyond real people's pockets. They are catapaulted into the world of collective corporates, into the world of private hands whereas he believes art should have a ceiling "say £200,000 not £50 million - a progression of values to meet that upper figure - this way all can have the opportunity to possess a work of art not just the few..."

Shurman
'Thuffering Thuccota'

Shurman supports the brush over computerized pixelation, he almost demands that we have the thought to think before we are led sheep-like into the world of TV slaughter or PC dreamstates and post suggestive subliminals. "Give the kids a pot of paint and a brush - a canvass and let them loose into their own world - let them bring that world out through the palette of self belief and the knowledge that freedom can bring colour and choice to be themselves", would seem to be his motto.

From our discussions together and my ignorance Shurman has shown me a world I thought I had some idea of but now realise I was only fooling myself. From the Renaisannce to Pop Art and all those adjuncts in between I can see his passion and respect for those before him, those alongside him and those that the future will conceive.

Shurman
'David Lynch'

I, who have likes and dislikes and on mentioning some of those, shall I call in my simplistic mind Modernistic artists but Shurman will have nothing said against them only that his it is their point of view and each and every one brings forth their own unique key to the lock of visual'ism no matter what or how it is perceived by others - each is as important as the smallest - it would seem his could be thought of as homeopathic for no matter how small or how large each is a key in the greater order of the whole picture, if you'll excuse the pun.

Shurman
'Cartoon Monet'

No matter how I concluded his current work, which brings in the world of Cartoon and current Politically subjective media-driven aspects of our somewhat shaded and jaded daily news - he only portrays the truth no matter how it could appear to be cutting to the quick or as in the case of other work being personal. His work is a form of convoluted tribute to other artists it is not personal, nothing more than an honouring - a respect - a positive uplifting of that 'other' - not a diminishing or negative competitiveness as some would, it seems, want to believe.

Shurman
'Jabba the House'

I have watched in recent weeks a shift in Shurman as he moves intangibly between one frame of mood into another walk of life. His output is prolific - his journey - never ending and searching for those aspects of truth whether in portraiture or cartoon all are continuum's of a forward path that is evolving. Some will like his work while others will not necessarily understand but I for one believe that Shurman will become a name alongside those he most admires such as Banksy and Hirst - Warhol and Magritte (incidently Shurman strongly believes that Magritte comes to him and guides his work) to name a few.

Shurman
'The Beatles'

I am hoping to be able to buy some Shurman's work before too long and put them away for the future - don't miss out - get one before they, like all the other artists that are namesakes, puts it out of the price range of us ordinary art lovers once they're in the millstream of the art sellers hands.

Shurman explained to me that he sees the coming of the end to BritArt perhaps his work is a hommage to the end of BritArt era
, with a return to painting, and in that cartoon painting movement, at last a genre that is in effect the point where Cartoon meets Fine Art.

Shurman
'Urban Graffiti'

Shurman sees a new wave coming in - a new form of art leaving the classical past where it belongs passing through the present forms and into the future world which he simply calls 'Absolute Art', and which he interprets as All Things New with a fair price for all and where all talent is rewarded for their art.

Shurman

As my interview came to a close I casually mentioned about a couple of paintings marked NFS (Not For Sale). These paintings, close to Shurman's heart, had come from deep within and jokingly I said there must be a price and for the first time he smiled with a knowing look played my bluff "No one could afford to buy them - Priceless" - I ashamedly continued "and for everything else there's MasterCard" to which we both fell about laughing.

I left our meeting pondering the question 'what is the British Press so apprehensive about?' the more I thought the more it brought to my mind the recent pole-axing methodology of that institution of the people's press The Daily Telegraph, through relentless, dogged pursuit of the truth has managed to expose corruption at the highest level of politics without fear of repercussion and yet when someone comes along with an equal search of the 'truth' in artistic form, it would seem, this great British media that spews out freedom of speech for the people runs shy, as I see it, closes back from the unknown and yet I would hasten to bet that should that input have come from the 1%, which is the higher echelon of the world of arts then I'm sure there would be no hesitation in following through and publishing unless of course, it falls outside of the particular newspapers' art editors own personal artistic favourtism!

On my way home I felt somewhat uncomfortable with the apparent 'D' notice society that I am living in and maybe the insight of that fall of our upper stratosphere, albeit government or some figure whether private or public has already been agreed behind closed doors and I continue to wonder whether, one day, the mould will be broken by someone who has the courage or will the shuttered British Press continue to walk the corridors of anal conceit and preferential oblivion.

ITR - US neo-conservatives are undermining Obama's attempts to close Guantanamo Bay

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net (UK)

Brett Solomon - Avaaz.org

Dear friends,

US neo-conservatives are undermining Obama's attempts to close Guantanamo Bay and put an end to torture.
We urgently need to respond with visible public pressure -- let's chip in to create a massive 'Stay Strong Obama' billboard right in the centre of Washington:
Take action now

President Obama's commitment to reverse and investigate Bush's brutal and illegal detention and interrogation policies is under real threat.

Torture advocates like former Vice-President Dick Cheney, perhaps fearing personal consequences for their actions, have launched a massive campaign to oppose Obama -- and, incredibly, they're winning. Even many members of Obama's own party are now withdrawing support for the closure of Guantanamo Bay. If a country like the US refuses to reject these policies, it will be a massive global step backwards for the cause of human rights.

Obama officials say visible public pressure is vital for them to stay strong on this issue. To make sure we're heard, let's put up a massive billboard right in the middle of Washington DC, where all the political staffers pass by every day. For $25 each of us can buy one square foot of support for President Obama; for $1000, we can own a letter -- click here:

https://secure.avaaz.org/en/stay_strong_obama

The billboard will point to what we want - the closure of Guantanamo this year, all the victims of secret prisons accounted for, an independent investigation into past torture practices, those who authorized or committed acts of torture held accountable, and effective detention and interrogation practices that respect the rule of law in all ongoing wars.

As President Obama himself said in his National Security speech this week - these past 'War on Terror' policies were illegal, ineffective, alienated the United States and increased global insecurity. But, in the last two weeks decisions have been made about Guantanamo, military commissions, and photos of torture that put the "Hope over Fear' doctrine at risk. He is up against dangerous populist forces and unless stopped now, something quite frightening could emerge - a world of indefinite preventative detention, ongoing rendition and impunity.

It is a crucial time for us all to tell President Obama that we expect him to act on his principles and values and not just hear them in fine rhetoric. What better way than an unmissable billboard towering over the streets of the most powerful city in the world. Click here to fight back:

https://secure.avaaz.org/en/stay_strong_obama

We could be at a turning point - away from lawless executive power and the politics of fear. But, we have to make our voices heard as we shout together that we don't believe the fear-hype, instead it is through respect for the law, each others dignity and justice that we can best overcome global violence and divisions.

The choice is ours at this juncture. In Obama's words, change does not come from him. It comes from all of us. Now, let's make it happen.

With hope,

Brett, Alice, Raj, Ricken, Pascal, Graziela, Paula and the rest of the Avaaz team

P.S. Want to support Avaaz's work to end torture and close Guantanamo Bay? We're entirely funded by member donations and receive no money from governments or corporations. Our tiny online team ensures even the smallest contributions go a long way. Donate here

Transition Sunday

The award winning Sunrise Celebration festival is to be held on a new site nr Bruton, from the 28th – 31st May 2009.

Sunrise is renowned for being one of the greenest and most creative festivals on the scene, with 6 stages, cutting edge info presented in talks and forums, workshops on crafts, alternative technology and earth energies, Circus and walk about performance, dance, art installations and a family vibe. Headliners include Martha Tilston, Baka Beyond, The Bays and Dub Pistols Sound System. This year the Sunday of the event is dedicated to the transition movement.

The Transition movement is based on a book written by a visionary permaculturist ‘Rob Hopkins’ and details the steps needed to be taken to live more sustainably at a local level. Towns all over the country are joining up to this initiative and implementing schemes which help to decentralise the supply chain and bring it back to a local level.

“The transition movement fits in perfectly with Sunrise’s ethos which has been powered on 100% renewable energy sources including solar, wind and ethically sourced bio-diesel generators since its conception four years ago. We really wanted to celebrate the mainstreaming of these amazing ideas with a day of the festival totally dedicated to the transition vision”, said Sophie Docker, Sunrise Spokes person.

The event has a site wide organic and local food policy, achieving at least 80% organic food and alcohol. Biodegradable plates, glasses and cutlery are used as well as biodegradable cleaning and washing products. The meat and dairy products on site are provided by Gilcombe farm, where the event is held, with veggie deliveries made by Somerset Organics. Other initiatives include compost toilets and a team of volunteer eco rangers who help inspire people to be green and educate them on the various recycling and reusing initiative. There will be a Fashion in Transition area, with garments produced by local designers, including recycles and vintage items, including an ethical fashion show.

Transition Sunday will involve site wide contribution to the transition theme with representatives from Transition groups displaying info and answering questions in the Transition Tent. Two people from local and well established groups have been invited to host the space and represent their transition group and experiences.

There will be talks in the Sunrise Natural be-in tent from and array of speakers on the Transition Movement including; Shaun Chamberlain author of ‘Transition Timeline’, leading UK permaculturist Patrick Whitefield on ‘The Permaculture Roots of Transition’, Jeremy Leggett of Solar Century on ‘Peak Oil & The Energy Crisis’, Dearbhaile Bradley, 2nd bard of Glastonbury, with ‘an introduction to Heart and Soul work’, ‘Starting a Transition Initiative’ from Linda Hull and a forum discussion on: Transition UK with Shaun Chamberlin, Linda Hull, Dearbhaile Bradley, Chaired by Anne Lamot.

Tickets are £99 Adults and £25 Kids with family discounts for all four days, and £35 for Transition Sunday only. From Bristol Ticket Shop 0845 1080259 and Gothic Image, Glastonbury. ITR - Sunrise Festival Update 21.5.2009

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net UK

SUNRISE

CELEBRATION

FESTIVAL

The Sun is Shining in Somerset

After the devastation of last year’s Sunrise and the monumental rising from the flood waters to return and put another not only one but two events this summer, Sunrise is really worth a visit this May. With 1 week to go things are really hotting up and here’s some idea of what to expect:

Gilcombe Farm- brand new site:

Lush organic farm, with rolling hills near Bruton in Somerset- Spring water on tap, organic food and drink with a high proportion locally sourced, including all dairy products, fruit and vegetables and delicious cider all coming from Gilcombe Farm itself.

Opening Ceremony- 9.30pm Thursday in the Temple

The opening ceremony will include a Tibetan dance called the Tsam dance preformed by Tibetan monks. The dance has been banned in Tibet itself and it is a great honour for Sunrise to be able to host this amazing cultural ceremony. There will also be a fire walk as part of the opening.

Fashion in Transition (F.I.T.) Ethical Fashion Show- 2pm Friday in Chai Wallahs

“Are you F.I.T. for Sunrise?” With local small scale designers strutting their stuff on the catwalk with the help of local Glastonbury comic dance group, Mean Feet this will be a fashion show with a twist and well worth checking out.

The Invisible Circus- 12pm Friday in Eartheart

Revolutionary Circus performers of the Bristol underground. Masterminds of the ingenious Carn’evil’ and the resplendent Bridwell project- an award winning company who will blow your mind in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Pillow Fight- 2pm Saturday in the main arena

Bring your own pillow and let out some of that hippy anger by bashing a few people over the head- make sure it’s a soft pillow though.

Poetry Slam (Comics’ vs. Cynics)- 3.30pm Saturday in Eartheart

Featuring award winning poets going head to head in a battle of the spoken word

3000Bc vs 3000AD Fancy dress- Saturday night, site wide

Bring a space pirate outfit or come as a caveman and take part in the Saturday madness.

Live Graffiti- 7pm Saturday Night

The Tug of War (and other adult games) - 8pm Saturday outside Eartheart

Cavemen vs. Space pirates get in touch with their ‘Ra’ side and invite everyone to join in.

Recycled Clothing Parade- 4pm Sunday starting outside the clothes recycling tent in the Fashion Collective Area

Join the parade in your best charity shop jumper or pick up a new outfit beforehand in the clothes recycling tent. The fashion police A.K.A ‘The Eco Rangers will be hijacking the best of dressed beforehand to take part in the parade. There will be a bottle of Vintage Roots organic Rose for the six FITest outfits.

ITR - Glastonbury Farmer's Market This Saturday Don't Miss It! Overseas Reservations taken...

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net UK

Glastonbury

UK

What's Happening In The Market This Weekend?

I'm still receiving rave reviews about Leakers Artisan Bakery who brought their bread last month, so don't miss out this Saturday!

Another person who enjoyed himself last month was sculptor Jeff Boddy whose asked to come back. So make a note to add a stone carved sheep to your shopping list - but not at the expense of Michelle's Somerset lamb from Oak View Farm!

Our guest slot this week however is neither food nor sheep related but instead we welcome Lynley Gerard from The Fostering and Adoption team at Social Services. If you've ever thought about fostering or know someone who is then come down and find out what kind of committment is required and support and training available.

But our main business is, as usual, to provide you with delicious, high-quality local food.
A new stall this time is Grannys Larder, who create cakes from old fashioned recipes and will no doubt be tempting new customers with tasters!

The full list includes;
Alfresco Refreshments
12 Season Preserves
Flaxdrayton Organic Veg
Grannys Larder
Ham Street Produce
Leakers Bakery
The Somerset Cheese Company /Brue Valley Cheeses
Moorland Farm Beef
Oak View Farm
Pams Edible Plants/ herbs/salads

ITR- Letter to: Dear Mr. Darling - UK Government - Steve Jones ITR-UK

Stevie Jones
(Heron / ex-Mungo Jerry) InTouchRadio.net UK - Dorset

Some daft ideas aren't so daft...

Dear Mr. Darling,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing Britain's economy. Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 20 million people over 50 in the work force. - Pay them £1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Twenty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new British CAR. Twenty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

4) They must send their kids to school / college /university - Crime rate fixed

5) Buy £50 of alcohol / tobacco a week there's your money back in duty / tax etc

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances
.

Simple!!

ITR - Shurman's Art - What The British Press Fear The US Might Just Be Seeing The Bigger Picture!

Michael Dixon - Founder InTouchRadio.net UK

Shurman's Art

What The British Press Fear

The US Might Just See The Bigger Picture!

'Shurman'
The Peoples Artist

by Michael Dixon
InTouchRadio.net UK

As 'Shurman' rolls off more of his genius seen here which was, as he said "I was inspired, the brushes didn't seem to move, it was more the canvass moving to meet the brush".

These three paintings, inspired or not, came to him during the period most of us sleep - those early hours where the veils of truth run filmy and thin. His partner concurred, "one minute the canvass was blank, it was as if time shifted and the next moment the picture was finished, his output is unbelievable".

As I popped into La Lune Cafe in Glastonbury's High Street with more finished photo's of Shurman's art I was greeted with "there's three more - can you do them now, there's so much interest we need them on site for the weekend". How could I refuse.

Those enjoying their coffee were lucky to glimpse the latest from Shurman's palette and they all watched intently as the camera came out and I angled up the shots, which you're able to see here.

'What's Up Doc?'
by
Shurman
When I arrived home I was greeted with many responses from around the world - I hope you too follow these blogs both here and on MySpace - the links are: www.myspace.com/intouchradionet
www.myspace.com/i_am_michael_dixon (Networking InTouchRadio.net)
www.myspace.com/psychicsoulman

Below I have described in response to Leila from Canada my first meeting with Shurman it is an adjunct to my earlier blog regarding the British Press and their apparent fear of Shurman's Art.

I have had communications, as I said, from around the world and am impressed by the reaction by our American friends who, it would seem have a greater understanding than many of their British counterparts.

I, for one, can see Shurman's work in its many guises being collected and being part of the greater scheme in the world of media, film and television. He has a stunning ability to collect information that is in the ethers and spin a web of creative artistry finally ending up on the canvasses you are witness to.

I hope you enjoy.

'Aviarian Climate'
by
Shurman

In Response to Leila - ITR - Cananda

I first met Shurman 2 years ago this month, which is ironic, as we shared the same weather under the illusive guise of the same intent and under the same tent, which it proved to be at the time, no pun intended. I saw his intent and that intent has grown in the intermediate time.

Recently he asked me to photograph his work for him. I did this because I believe in his dream and we all must dream. He has moved from one particle of reality to another closely angling his work towards whatever truth he sees as he works.

I had to break down some pictures and was surprised to find within other pictures which were not apparent at the time and this fascinated me.

'Pixelated Space'
by
Shurman

I am pleased to have been able to help him and will continue to do so. He borders the cartoon and strikes through the subtleties of scorpionic bloom to show both gentleness and acidic sting.

I will be posting more pictures and am hoping the InTouchRadio teams around the world even through this quieting time will pass on Shurman's art from one to the other and hope you will do the same.

I feel, he has so much to offer and his prolific output equals mine towards the nightly output of dreams to awaken those slumbering in the numbness of life and to jolt them into the reality that we are all here to observe and partake in our own reality rather than sit back and wait for the doors to be opened - we should take charge and force the frontiers of boundary which are ours.

ITR - Shurman- British Press - What Are They Frightened Of - Response from Leila ITR Canada

Leila - ITR Canada

Message from Leila ITR Canada

Shurman - British Press - What are they afraid of:

Art as an object turns every object into potential art.
What is art then? The modern gallery owners and collectors have no answers.
Most collectors today want a piece of the artist as well. They want to belong to the art world, the scene.

It is hard trying to be different nowadays with other people trying to be different.

A painting should make a human contact.

Art no longer shocks people and as a dear friend of mine who visited the Miami Basel art show said, there is so much crap these days passing for art.

I admire him for stating it to the dealers in front of their faces as their jaws drop:-)

The press must always criticize some artist usually it is orchestrated to make the collectors flock to buy it.

Perhaps there is nothing new in the art scene for them to comment on.

I find these pieces delightful!

Like you said Michael, let todays student artists use paint brushes smell the oil paints, dirty their hands with charcoal not just create illusions on the pc.

Response from Michael Dixon - InTouchRadio.net UK

Hi Leila

Thank you for you supportive reply to Shurman's art. Today we are controlled by the confines of truncated freedom whether by art, music, word or the licence simply to be.

Sending love to you and your family and thank you for your very valued input which I will pass on to Shurman when I meet him tomorrow.

Love

Michael

Shurman’ – quietly illusive – actively responsive – politically aware – suburban-rural anomaly – intuitively insular one might call him a remote viewing cartoon collective of the paradox and stepping carefully as on broken egg shells I can further, what I see as a brilliant mind that captures the moment and mesmerises our ability to translate what appears on the canvass in front of us.

I have always had an eclectic taste in the Arts, Music and Film.

I first met ‘Shurman’ at the Sunrise Festival of 2007. He had been commissioned to illustrate an on-site portable mobile home. He was struggling against the elements – heavy torrential rain on the first day of the festival.

I immediately saw a genius at work as he interpreted, what I’d call, ‘Illustrative Street Art’.

One thing for sure Shurman is not a Commercial Corporate sign writing people pleaser – he gives you what you really wanted but didn’t know how to ask for. I just wish I could have slid both sides of that portable painting onto canvasses for the future.

Shurman is not interested in revealing himself personally to the wider world – anonymity is his motto –he says, “it’s not about me but the art”.

Struggle as I have to request a photo-shoot of him it has resulted in a silhouette, which suffices to capture the mystery that is ‘Shurman’.

On more than one occasion I posed the question “what were you saying in this picture?” only to receive the response “what does it say to you” and no matter how many ways I angled the question – the same reply – and that is another facet of the diamond of Shurman’s art – what does it say to you!

LIMITED BACKGROUND
OF 'SHURMAN
'

Goldsmith College, London trained, Shurman has worked with Mad Magazine & Spitting Images and has had sell-out exhibitions in London in the 1990’s, including his nationally acclaimed ‘Freaks No More’.

He stands for the Artist in all guises – and I have witnessed on more than one occasion his support by buying pictures from other artists – he knows what real artists go through to sustain their existence and as he points out, those real artists have been held down for centuries – these have the vision!

He doesn’t subscribe to ‘those popular ‘artists’ who pander to their clients desire and restrict their inspiration by denying their own intuition and connection etc’.

QUESTION:

WHAT IS IT THAT THE BRITISH PRESS ARE SCARED OF BY ‘SHURMAN’S’ PICTURES?

‘Shurman’ is the ‘Peoples’ Artist’ so why is he denied the same access that certain others have found?

Recently, a National News Agency picked up ‘Shurman’ – in their eyes he was seen as a Visionary Artist who’s work needed to be put out to a national audience – even a global audience as his paintings cover many world aspects.

His paintings move through transitions of past-perfect reflective imagery (see Jim Morrison – Doors/ Jimi Hendrix/ Pink Floyd and so on, in my limited knowledge, to modernistic viewpoints that cut deeply into the realism of current gripping fantastical personalities who ‘Shurman’ channels as Portraits of Egos in our society (see Madonna & Child, Michael Jackson – the beautiful essence of Princess Diana).

=A part of ‘Shurman’s’ objectivity it seems it to produce paintings that will question, perhaps challenge but also help people, one of the reasons that he is called the Peoples’ Artist.

Presently the current swath of Political schematics is awash in ‘Shurman’s’ work cutting to the chase – giving the opportunity to interact as a witness – his work combines all possibilities.

‘Paint not Pixels’, is a campaign that ‘Shurman’ is passionately interested in, the objective to get kids back to the Mind, Body, Soul, Divine connection that is fast becoming lost to the flickering plastic world of the PC with its equally plastic keyboards and mouse.

Irony

What is ironic though just two doors up from La Lune Café in Glastonbury High Street in Somerset where ‘Shurman’s art is to be found is a council white-washed wall painting thought to be by Banksy which has now gained world-wide attention – the owner of that wall, the well-known Glastonbury jeweller Julian Chatt joked to ‘Shurman’ that he doesn’t hold a paint brush but has been overwhelmed by the Press calls about it…

It would seem the British Press are only interested in controversial, damaging, or humiliating news and are prepared to go to any length to obtain the headline of the day and yet run scared of the truth in whatever truism it may present itself.

Well I put my neck on the line by saying on my first meeting that I rated ‘Shurman’ and I was not disappointed on my second meeting when he had just completed an outdoor mural behind one of Glastonbury’s notable nightclubs later in the summer of 2007. Since then ‘Shurman’ art can be found in many of Glastonbury’s open idea businesses.

I said it then, I have not changed my mind; in fact I would go much further seeing the latest batch of ‘Shurman’s’ art – I would buy whatever I could before this artist goes supernova and you see him alongside the other British greats at least you get realism with ‘Shurman’ and the prolific output is all his own as he works through the night hours, which cannot be said of all modern artists…

Given my pre-disposed eclectic taste Shurman’s work I find interesting, sometimes painfully truthful and I feel he offers something different in each and every different approach to his art but above all it is honest.

So I re-pose the question – What is the British Press frightened of – the Truth?
